Educational innovation initiatives
Through educational innovation initiatives, IMPACTsci collaborates across Europe to reimagine education and inclusion for neurodivergent communities.
WELDIFY is a European initiative building the future of welding for the circular economy. With a focus on Circular Material Welding (CMW)— especially in the construction and automotive sectors — the project aims to train over 5,000 learners, including people with disabilities, through an inclusive, digitally supported curriculum aligned with ECTS and ECVET standards.
As a neurodivergent-led inclusion expert, IMPACTsci leads three strategic areas:
Inclusive Training Design for Trainers
We are designing the EQF-7 inclusion module for the EIT-compliant CMW toolkit, equipping educators and trainers to support learners with disabilities through equity-based methodologies.
Inclusive Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) Toolkit for Learners
We develop content on:
- HMI and assistive tech for employees with disabilities
- Adaptable interfaces and inclusive UX
- Universal Design principles and “equity-by-design”
- Co-creation of tools with disabled workers
- The impact of inclusive HMI on safety, productivity, and wellbeing
Quality & Evaluation Lead
IMPACTsci is responsible for overseeing the project’s quality assurance framework, ensuring that all outputs meet accessibility, scientific, and educational excellence standards.

ACTIVATE — Autistic Community through Advocacy, Learning, and Empowerment — is an Erasmus+ project focused on fostering the empowerment and visibility of autistic youth across Europe. Through advocacy, learning, and community building, ACTIVATE promotes a strengths-based, neuroaffirmative approach to inclusion.
As a neurodivergent-led educational innovator, IMPACTsci leads the development of the ACTIVATE Autistic Advocacy Academy — a digital learning space where autistic youth build the tools, confidence, and skills to advocate for their rights and influence policy at local, national, and European levels.
We lead:
- Curriculum development using a non-formal education approach
- Learning Outcomes methodology aligned with EU frameworks
- OER design (Open Educational Resources) accessible across languages
Partners also host interactive initiatives such as:
- #AskAnAutistic Q&As
- #MyAutismJourney storytelling
- Autism Acceptance Month Campaigns
- A growing European Community of Practice for autistic youth
These activities promote cross-border peer exchange and amplify lived experience as a form of knowledge and leadership.
ACTIVATE is a platform for autistic leadership.
SHIFT is an Erasmus+ project focused on enhancing the role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the implementation of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies.
SHIFT’s main innovation is the development of the ESG Impact Index Open-Access Platform, which helps HEIs assess, implement, and monitor ESG practices.
The platform is supported by:
- A research phase on ESG policy and practice
- A co-developed ESG Impact Index Matrix
- Micro-learning modules and awareness-raising activities
- A Certification Program for HEIs demonstrating ESG leadership
- A gamified learning experience via the University ESG Awareness serious game
As a partner specialising in inclusion and systems equity, IMPACTsci leads critical components of the Social dimension of the ESG Impact Index:
EQUITY & ACCESS
- Inclusive education policies and DEI practices
- Support structures for marginalised students
- Socioeconomic equity and affordability initiatives
- Universal design and accessibility implementation
- Childcare and family-inclusive services
WELLBEING
- Mental health and well-being support structures
- Campus safety and security strategies
In collaboration with ISQe, IMPACTsci also co-designs the University ESG Awareness Serious Game, ensuring accessibility and engagement for diverse learners.
COHESION is a European project focused on closing the gap between the private sector and disabled and neurodivergent students. The project works to advance inclusion in employment by strengthening connections between education, business, and lived experience.
Project Goals
- Building systems that connect employers with neurodivergent and neurotrauma-affected students
- Raising the competences of company staff to support vulnerable graduates
- Improving employability through tailored training
- Normalising inclusive employment and promoting awareness of social integration
As an Associated Partner, IMPACTsci supported the project’s research phase, contributing to the semi-structured interviews aimed at understanding key barriers and opportunities for inclusive transitions into work.
The InclusiVR@Work project aims to reduce the employability gap for people with disabilities by promoting empathy, awareness, and reasonable accommodation in the workplace. Through the development of three immersive Virtual Reality experiences focused on physical, visual, and hearing disabilities simulations, a Disability Inclusion MOOC for HR managers and a CPD programme for VET professionals, the project provides VET professionals, HR managers and employers with realistic, scenario-based learning tools to better understand the challenges faced by people with disabilities and to foster more inclusive professional environments.
With its deep expertise in inclusive design, neurodiversity and evidence-based educational tools, IMPACTsci provide valuable insights and feedback into the development of inclusive pedagogical content and support awareness-raising efforts as an associated partner of the project.

CHARLIE delivered:
- An EQF Level 6 e-learning course for Higher Education
- An EQF Level 4 micro-credential for Adult Education
- An EQF Level 2 serious game for Youth learners
As a recognised expert in inclusive digital transformation, IMPACTsci was invited as an Associated Partner to contribute to CHARLIE’s mission in two key ways:
- Expert Review
IMPACTsci provided specialist feedback and insight on learning materials developed across all levels, with an emphasis on accessibility and neurodivergent inclusion. - Summit Leadership & Thought Contribution
At the CHARLIE International Summit, IMPACTsci moderated key sessions and delivered a keynote presentation on how neurodivergent perspectives are reshaping responsible tech design — highlighting the value of cognitive diversity in ethical AI.
MAAT – Mobilising Youth for Gender-Inclusive Cities – was a bold project addressing systemic inequalities in urban design and public space, with a focus on the lived experiences of women and other marginalised groups.
The project explored how gender, care roles, and intersecting identities affect how people move through and access the urban environment — from transport and health services to safety and accessibility. Rooted in youth-led learning and civic participation, MAAT empowered young people to imagine, design, and advocate for more just and inclusive cities.
Key Themes
- Gendered mobility and access to city infrastructure
- Discrimination in public spaces based on race, gender identity, disability, and age
- Empowering youth through civic engagement and policy co-creation
- Gamified learning and participatory methodologies
As an Associated Partner, IMPACTsci supported:
- The Youth Policy Labs methodology, providing input on inclusive strategy
- The pilot phase of INCLUSIVILLE, a gamified learning experience where participants reimagine equitable urban spaces
The project has now concluded, but its legacy lives on through the tools, narratives, and youth voices it helped activate.
